Test drove a loaded BMW i7 - silent ride, killer sound system, comfy Merino leather (though black heavy, needs "Tartufo"!). Luxury bodywork wins over M-Sport. But those in-cabin "crystal" accents? HUGE miss! Cheap, gaudy after-market vibes on everything from shifter to trim. An optional package would be way better! Anyone else hate the crystal overload? Exterior's growing on me, but that interior bling is a deal-breaker for now.

I Afree. BMW's heritage of German design is a core part of what makes their brand so desirable. They shouldn't compromise that identity to chase trends in a specific market.

the leather was nice but the all-black interior could be improved with a different color. Choosing the luxury style over the sporty one was a good fit for the car's purpose. The "crystal" decorations were a big disappointment. They looked cheap and didn't match the car's high-quality feel. It would be much better if you could choose to have them removed. While you're starting to like the outside of the car, the interior decorations are a major problem.

What if you wrap them with matte vinyl?

I ordered a 2024 I7 xDrive60 in Space Silver with Black, full Marino and most every option other than anything for the rear seating area. Yes, I am not a fan of the “crystal” looking trinkets, but I wanted the car and that’s the way it came, so I’m living with it. The car overall is such a breath of fresh air compared to my last new MB S580, that I never really notice the crystal bits anymore, I just enjoy the drive.IMG_7170.jpeg

So, did you ever pull the trigger on the i7, or did the crystal carnival interior turn you away for good? BMW should’ve made that an option, not a default.
