Anyone else rocking a ‘24 i7 xDrive60 getting annoyed by tire noise at highway speeds? Pretty sure it’s that tire cavity resonance thing. I’ve got Yokohama Advan Sport V107s on 19s btw.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the noise, or is it just a characteristic of these tires?

Streamliner has complained of the same thing with those tires on the Bimmerpost G70 forum so I’m thinking it’s intrinsic to the tire.Don’t know why BMW would spec that tire if it’s noisy, particularly on an EV.My 20” Pirelli P Zero All Seasons on my 760i are pretty quiet.BMW has made a big deal of all the acoustic engineering on the G70,so it is pretty curious.

Yeah it's super annoying esp on those longer trips! I thought it might be the tire choice too, but didn’t realize its’ such a thing with these Yokohamas. Might try swapping them out for somrthing like your Pirellis and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

I have the same tires in my i7 and have same issue. When we set the cruise to 58mph and drive on a good road I hear the peak noise which is even worse and loud. I went to 3 service center and they said it is normal which I am not able to accept as it is not just loud but higher frequency. I test drove another i7 with the same tire and it made the same noise at 58mph. I also drove an i7 with m package which had pirelli p zero all season and it was way quieter with no such noise. And there is currently no ev specific tire or acoustic foam tire for size 245/50r19 105. I think the 20 inch p zero has pcns foam but the 19 inch does not have acoustic foam.
But if you change the tire and noise disappears, please post your experience in this forum. The noise is so annoying.

Did someone mention my name? :)

I’m new to this site, but yes, I have a 2024 I7 xDrive60 with 19” wheels and the Yokohama Advan tires. Just returned from a 1200 mile road trip up to Napa Valley and on rough surfaced roads, which I came across mostly in Northern California, at highway speeds, the tires just ROARED! This is the most annoying experience I can ever recall having with tire noise and is especially concerning, since the I7 is so “vault like” quiet the rest of the time.

I believe this noise is due mostly to the Yokohama’s, but might have something to do with the choice of the 19” wheels. I say this, as I have not heard anyone complaining with the 20” or 21” wheels. Can anyone out there confirm this?
